Student Life in Haiti!
Gastronomy Fair — May 8, 2026
During the month of May, the school administration organized a special extracurricular activity: a Gastronomy Fair - or what we might call a Food Fair.
This event was special as our students prepared food for others to enjoy and purchase while spending time together in celebration and community.
Each class was responsible for preparing its’ own dish. The foods featured many beloved Haitian favorites such as lam, tonmtonm, lalo, fish, and roasted corn. In addition to the food, the community and students enjoyed live music, games, dancing, and time together.
There were many benefits to the event:
Social Development
Students learned to collaborate and work together as they cleaned the school, purchased supplies, and prepared meals. These shared responsibilities helped build perseverance, teamwork, and unity.
Economic & Financial Development
The fair taught students practical money management skills. Instead of spending money immediately, students learned how to invest wisely and plan ahead. These experiences brought their economics lessons to life and helped prepare them for the future.
Intellectual & Artistic Development
Students also developed creatively through choreographed dances, theatrical performances, music, writing, and artistic presentations. The event encouraged them to think creatively and express themselves confidently.
The Gastronomy Fair contributed to the social, financial, intellectual, and artistic growth of our students while creating joyful memories and strengthening community.
