When God Calls, Just Say Yes! - by Markus Kaulius

In 2022, God put Haiti on my heart. This was incredibly strange because, if I am being honest, I had never thought of Haiti ever before! I couldn’t seem to escape it and news about Haiti started popping up everywhere in my life.

I reached out to my best friends Micah and Diana LaCerte, who I knew had done some beautiful work with a school in Haiti. After learning about what they do, how much they love it and the impact they were making through the charity they worked with there, I requested an introduction.

On that call with Haiti Empowered, it was clear there was something so special about what God was doing through this beautiful organization. I was already feeling the alignment and the calling, but God made it so wonderfully obvious that I was to partner up since my company and Haiti Empowered both started in the same month - over 17 years before that call (January 2005)!

I have been blessed to have my school in Lompre for over 4 years now. Those are my 50+ children. My family and I love seeing the updates - watching our kids grow and develop, smile and gain hope. When we receive our updated photos and write-ups about our kids, we lay all the pictures out over our tables and kitchen island and we go around and pray over every photo.

If you are reading this, my gut tells me God has been giving you a similar calling to what He gave me. I want to encourage you to not overthink it, just say yes. Say yes to sharing love, kindness, blessing, education, food… hope. You are the one who will receive the real blessing from this.
